You are not alone
You are not alone started out as my class project in graduate school and gradually became my inspiration and small contribution to strangers. I chose the words to create some comfort to those whom I have never met.
In times of trouble or loneliness we all need to be reminded that our friends are thinking of us and many others we do not know personally are there for us, too.
You are not alone is a reminder of that.
I chose the script to be legible and familiar. It has a soothing handwritten quality, large enough to easily distinguish, and placed in strategic locations that one can only get to on foot.
My earlier stencils were spray painted in glow-in-the-dark colors so as to not disturb or obstruct property.
Yet as I came to develop and strengthen my cause, I chose to use black paint in order for people to see it boldly during the day.
Not everyone who feels alone is lonely, just as not all who feel alone feel it only at night.
