Everyone likes a good party, and event planning is one of my favorite pastimes. This year for my 25th birthday, I threw a "Great Gatsby" themed party in honor of the book and new movie release. To make it the most memorable birthday for myself and guests, I honed in on popular social media outlets; a Pinterest board for 1920s inspiration, a hashtag for Instagram/Twitter and a Facebook event page for all the details. I even created a photo backdrop with my other creative friends (inspired by Georges Méliès's "A Trip to the Moon") for guests to pose in front of. The resulting party so surpassed my expectations that I felt like Jay Gatsby himself!
