Richmond Tigers Digital Art - Matthew Richardson

Ever since I was five years old, I’ve been a diehard Richmond Tigers supporter. And, when Richmond put out a request for supporters to submit artwork they’ve created for #TigerArtFriday on social media, I had no hesitation!
Matthew Richardson (commonly known as ‘Richo’) is one of my all time favourite players. Passionate, Richmond through-and-through and the equivalent of a supporter playing on the ground. Kicking 800 goals, a record for the AFL, at the MCG is a highlight for this power forward turned midfielder later in his career, where he nearly won the Brownlow medal. Consistently winning the Richmond goal kicking award, Richo doesn’t have all the medals that Dusty has, but Richo was prolific in building the Richmond culture, when the club was on its knees. And, in 2017 when he had the honor of presenting the premiership cup to Trent Cotchin and Damien Hardwick, every Richmond supporter felt that Richo deserved to be recognised in that team as much as the players involved.
