Mother's Day Illustration

When I was a kid, my dad’s job would take him to Vietnam for weeks at a time - leaving my mom trapped on an island with three crazy boys (and a girl on the way). These years were the highlight of my life - but looking back I’m sure they were challenging times for my mom. She had sacrificed her college education and a possible career in speech pathology to homeschool her kids - back before homeschooling was cool, and had all the great resources and community that it does now. To this day, I’m still inspired by my mom’s love of learning and exploration. Of course she was our teacher - but I believe the key to her success was how much she loved learning right alongside us. She always inspired us to learn, read, grow, explore, and pursue our dreams.

I hope you enjoy this picture I drew of my adventurous mom and her boys for Mother’s Day! (I’m the kid with the hat on backwards and the Mead Composition notebook in case you’re wondering)
