I Love Restaurants

You’re my favorite restaurant – the one I look forward to visiting the most. It used to feel like all I cared about was the food. But now, I know that I miss the place settings, the water decanter, the lighting, the table, the chairs, the experience. I miss the salty, the kind, and the overly friendly wait staff. I long to watch the bussers clear tables and the elegant handoff between the kitchen and wait staff. I miss the annoying yet madly in love and those struggling to contain their children as they try to find some semblance of normalcy in the early (or late) stages of child-rearing. I miss running my finger down the wine list and reading the ingredients on the menu.

Now I’m left with paper containers, disposable cutlery, and semi-warm food. It’s still your food, and always better than most, but it’s lost its vibrancy against the brown bags and loneliness.

I can’t wait to see you again. To wait for a table. To call ahead and see if you’re busy. To spend too much money, and never to take you for granted again.

I love and miss you deeply,
Brandon
