Tragic Hero: Minamoto no Yoshitsune

Minamoto no Yoshitsune (源 義 経, 1159 - 15 June 1189) was a military commander of the Japanese Minamoto clan in the late Heian and early Kamakura periods. During the Genpei War, he led a series of battles against Ise-Heishi of the Taira clan, helping his stepbrother Yoritomo consolidate power.

He is considered one of the greatest and most popular warriors of his time, and one of the most famous samurai fighters in Japanese history.

However, his popularity was considered a threat by his own brother who was the ruler at the time, and he was accused of wanting to rebel against the kingdom.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune became a royal fugitive and fled with his family. Allied whom he trusted so betrayed him and joined him. Until finally he was forced in a village, and chose to commit suicide as a samurai.
