Maverick Greens Underground Sprinkler Specialists

The grass is always greener on a Maverick lawn.

Maverick Greens is a family-owned underground sprinkler company located in Columbus, Nebraska. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha (the Mavericks), the owner paid homage to his alma mater by naming his company after the football team he once walked onto. The concept of the logo was to create a strong, simple and recognizable M icon that represented the trusted service he provides.

The original design had many mistakes I couldn’t see – or talk the client out of – as a young designer. I recently revisited the design after seeing it with more experienced eyes, and redesigned it to eliminate the mishaps of a young designer. The updated design uses a modified typeface (Roboto Slab), simplified structure, and variable versions for different applications.
