Dino Runner AR Core by Google

Google I/O 2019 was one of the biggest tech events of the year. So when Google asked Hook Studios to create an AR demo that would stand out in a space crowded with amazing products, we scratched our heads and took a long breath (a really long breath). Then we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

We created Dino Runner - an AR multiplayer game based on an 8-bit easter egg hidden in Google Chrome. Players could take control of a sprinting dino and compete for the high score in front of a live audience. The game leveraged Cloud Anchors (a fancy new feature for ARCore) which allows people to share the same AR experience at once.

The demo was a huge hit, and some people were even heard saying “this is the best AR demo we’ve ever seen!”. Pats on the back all around.

I hope you enjoy my work. Thank you and Stay tuned!
