Phoney Onboarding
The final version of Phoney's onboarding flow had to be redone to incorporate this notice. The biggest development hangup with this app has been Apple's continuous rejection over a certain rule about encroaching on Apple's IP. Basically, an app that replicates Apple's design and spoofs core functions isn't allowed. The rule makes sense, but they've encouraged me to continue working on solutions – they just can't tell me what those solutions are. Fun, right?
The original onboarding flow took users through an actual contact setup flow after the initial introduction animation. That flow was nice, but one problem was that it didn't do a good job communicating to the user what they were actually doing since the concept of this app is a little difficult to understand for some. This change, while a bit more boring and cumbersome IMO, provides all of the necessary information up-front before leading into contact creation, and also hopefully be enough to get the app approved.
This build was resubmitted last night, so keep your fingers crossed 🤞
I'll talk more about the design process and all of the changes I've made to try and work around the rules more in the future, but some have been documented on my portfolio already. http://www.jaredlodwick.design/phoney.html
