The five rude monks

Five monks lived in a monastery near a mountain. They were sad because they had no disciples and if they didn't have any soon, the monastery risked to close.
They were so used to living together that they addressed each other in a rude way, but they didn't care because it had become normal for them. One day they went to ask advice to the ascetic who meditated in the mountain cave. They asked: how can we do to have new recruits? He replied: there is a pure devotee among you, and with your behavior you are offending him. They asked: who is among us, so that we can behave better with him? But the ascetic said nothing more.
Returning to the monastery they decided to behave kindly with each other, not knowing who among them was the pure devotee. After a short time they had a lot of disciples, that decided to become monks because of the beautiful climate that reigned in that place.
After a few years they returned to the ascetic to thank him, and on that occasion they asked again: who was the pure devotee? He replied: there are now five pure devotees.

"What is under my control is also under my responsibility and I take care of it with courage."
