Choosing a project to map is the very first step to start contributing. Through user research, we found that a lot of volunteer mappers were having trouble selecting a project to get started. With hundreds of projects to choose from, how do you decide?

Our goal when designing the project page was to place the most relevant information above the fold in order to facilitate the users choice. This included the mapping level, types of mapping and tools needed, location and basic description of each project — making it easier to see the requirements of the mapping process.

All the information bellow the fold was categorised and made easily accessed with an anchored navigation, giving users access to contributors, contribution timeline and comments.
