Old man illustrations

Illustration for the E. Hemingway's book "The Old Man and the Sea". Inspired by the story itself, where the old man couldn’t catch a fish for 84 days. He was sad and worn out from his failed attempts, and his face reflected the harsh treatment of the sea's winds.

I chose not to use any colors, except black and white, in order for the illustration to retain its specific feel... Age, severity, and the old man's despair.

I did this work in the Affinity Designer on the iPad (the most functional vector editor on the iPad). The raster functionality there is no less amazing. If you have not tried drawing vector illustrations in Affinity on the iPad, try it and you'll never return to other tools. I'm not advertising, it's simply a great tool to recommend.
