Copa d’Oro was founded in 2019 by two sisters, Nora and Julia Garca, who mastered their craft at a chocolatier located near their family home in Salamanca, Spain. The name, Copa d’Oro, refers to the Spanish legend of the golden goblet. It is believed that Don Herman Cortes, the Spanish conquistador, was first introduced to chocolate when served a chocolate drink in a golden goblet by the Aztec priest, Montezuma.
