Branding: Karisome Creative Wagashi Restaurant

Karisome (仮初) in Japanese meaning as ephemeral. The idea of the restaurant is based on Superflat, a modern art movement initiated in Japan in 2000s. The movement itself focused a lot on Japanese anime culture, especially the aspects of otaku (オタク) and shoujou(少女). The movement itself works as both a reflection and a critique of modern Japan’s high-speed urban expansion, pop culture and consumerism.

Karisome’s mission is to make a comment on the Japanese pop cultural consumerism. In the restaurant, we serve well-made wagashi, Japanese’s traditional desserts made of the most fresh selected materials of the season. It also provides quiet and elegant interior for customers to come in, sit and dine, to live in the moment without the noise of the outside, of the city.
