NorthOne Welcome Screens

Hi friends,

Over the last few weeks, my team has been working on improving the onboarding experience of the NorthOne app. Each one of our users have downloaded the NorthOne app with a reason in mind. With these improvements, we hope to reiterate how the app will change their lives for better.

The Problem
There was about a 40% drop off rate between a user downloading the app and creating an account.

Hypothesis
Improving the welcome screen(s) experience will:
1. Make our users more aware of the core features and value props offered
2. More importantly, increase conversion between first app open to create an account rate by ~5% absolute (from 60% to 65%)

Improvements
Value-Focused.
The what, where, and how are clearly answered. Welcome screens do a better job informing users how the app will change their lives for better.

Succinct.
Experience is quick yet thoughtful—which helps lower the risk to avoid user abandonment. 
Provides all the information new users need in a concise manner (critical in a world of short attention spans.)

Appealing.
We spent hours making sure the experience was aesthetically pleasing and clear, showing our users that the team cares about branding and all aspects of the visuals.

Next Steps
Measure, test, and tweak the welcome screens more frequently.
