IBM Design | Microinteractions Pt. II

Everything’s always important. Deadlines, technical limitations and making sure resources are not just used, but also in the right place. Work happens fast. To take this down to the personal level, it is paramount that team members are communicated to and are executing their particular task.

At IBM, where massive teams are functioning toward delivering enterprise-level software, there are struggles at every level in the effort to make good software exceptional. As an advocate for design and more importantly, the user, I challenge myself to constantly and continually ask, “How can I bring value outside of what’s being assigned?”

Just recently, Andrew and I took some time to consider the hundreds of screens we look at in our day to day, to see where we could apply value and how we could make something beneficial for everyone. After some thought, we decided we would dive into micro-interactions and the impact that motion could have, when it gets integrated into product.

With a solid design system in place, we aimed to identify areas that have not yet been defined, to create a conversation around what could potentially be implemented and adopted.

The rendition above is just the tip of the iceberg. More on this effort is still to come!
