WalkyFit - cryptocurrency for activities app
#BlastFromThePast
Hello, everybody!
Today I want to show you one cool project from early 2018. If you don't remember this time, I can remind you. 2017-2018 are the brightest years in the crypto market. At the end of 2017 (Dec. 17), Bitcoin achieved its all-time high at $19,783. It was pure hype, and everybody was talking about mining, ICO, and the future of fiat money. Even grannies on the street started discussing the price of BTC - a pure manifestation of the hype, right?
But let's get back to our project. At the end of 2017, guys from Centurion Lab connected with our team to develop a mobile app. By using the app, users had to be able to mine Centurion (CNT) coins. The idea was really great - make money from physical activities. The app tracked your movements during the day, and the more you move - the more CNT you could mine. App had integrations with different fitness trackers to make this process simple and convenient.
The color scheme was chosen in the unified style of the cryptocurrency trends: dark with bright lights. To be honest, every design team was dreaming of making their own crypto-design. So, we were thrilled to get this project on the board. You can see how good we achieved the goal: navy blue background with acid green led-lights. Deep dark backgrounds allow you to focus users on the content, removing all unnecessary distractions. I personally love this solution so much with the bottom light in the tab bar. Really proud of it: how good it shows the active tab and also looks great. The app had two styles: dark and light. 15 months earlier than Apple introduced its Dark Mode for iOS! We are trendsetters, aren't we?
The app was full of different cool features. The main idea was to motivate people to reduce the usage of cars and other auto transport and shift to bicycles and walking. The more you move - the more coins you earn. On the main screen, you could see the number of steps, the amount of CO2 you reduced, calories burned, and some achievements. On the map, you could find other active people and connect with them. Later we added some games in the real world - you could find additional coins around the city, and you could take them by visiting those places. These games motivated users to move more and be more healthy and wealthy.
All mockups were in old-good iPhone 7 form-factor, as Apple has just released its first rimless phone - iPhone X. What a time!
If you want to try the app, it is still available in the AppStore - https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/walkyfit/id1343863769
