Logo for Marx Design (Concept)
I was commissioned by New Zealand-based design studio Marx Design to come up with a symbol. The brief was to articulate the always pencil-first approach they took.
The key here for me was to infuse the pencil with a secondary narrative, which was the team's collective and collaborative endeavour to find a striking idea. The use of positive and negative space here was really an expression of the ideas that happen between things, between people. The rotational quality of the symbol was a way to get a motion and activity into the work.
Another concept was chosen, so this one is available.
