Diving into spring

Spring is my favourite season. Nothing like seeing the meadow in front of our village transform into a lush field of wildflowers. Bees buzzing, and the intoxicating sweet scent of the blooming trees filling the air. It was exactly what I had in mind back in January when I was working on this piece commissioned by software developers Serif for the promotion of their 1.8 release of Affinity Photo.

Unfortunately, being in full lockdown right now, the spring bloom I was looking forward to is passing by quietly, and without spectators. I can see the wild cherries blooming in the distance from my balcony, but that’s about it. The dreamlike state of the illustration now almost feels like a premonition but fortunately it still gives me some good vibes, at least spring is still happening on my wallpaper!
