Letterforms/Counterforms
This was a Letterforms/Counterforms typography exploration. The goal is to find a balance between the negative and positive space. The typeface used was Univers bold.
Every letterform consists of solids and voids – the printed positive and the blank negative. The most fundamental aspect of typographic design is the interplay between the letterform and the background. The shape of the background around and within the letterform is called the counterform. The negative form (counterform) is as much a part of the letter as the positive form. Without a counterform, the letter would not exist.
