Abstracting from Reality
We were to choose a place/environment and create a two dimensional abstract design. By creating many thumbnails sketches. We were to use only solid, abstract shapes or very simple lines. No illustrations or complex line drawings. The shapes could be a mix of geometric or organic shapes.
The environment that I chose was my backyard. I tried to capture the essence of the tree, grass, pond and sky. I remember that it was in the afternoon and partly cloudy and the sun was a gold tone. It was very unique.
Then by using the first computer version of your environment study, develop two additional compositionsone at a time by cropping in closer and closer to create a series of three images total using cropping in closer and closer. It enable me to become even more abstract and to give a sense of the panning techniques used in multimedia, layout and composition.
