Gestalt Compositions using Black Squares

Comfort (left) is conveyed through a symmetric border using a form consisting of three squares. The balance and emptiness of the piece creates comfort for me.

Order (right) is conveyed through the use of the same form used in Comfort (left), but oriented differently and scaled. The forms extend off the page, to give the viewer the idea that there are many more of these forms. The flip in orientation was a design choice with the purpose of making a piece for Order less stationary. Order doesn't mean there is no motion.
