Some time ago I did a lot of work for businesses at the crypto scene. It was energising at first. I joined in late 2017 and witnessed the whole sector boom up till the peak in January 2018. I loved the challenges and opportunities I was presented with as a designer. Not least of all, I deeply enjoyed the process of helping build a startup and contributing to the success of our product.
After January 2018, I began seeing way too many hopes and businesses built around cryptocurrencies go down together with the curves on crypto exchanges as if the whole development beforehand was a mere fantasy.
I don’t know what will happen next; it is possible that the whole sector will recover and my friends will laugh at me for having spent all my crypto on art supplies. I’d be happy with such a development though. My main takeaway so far is that the knowledge and skills I gained on the way have been immune to any kind of volatility and I’m much better off investing in them, leaving the chart game to the people who know how to play it.
This illustration forms a part of a project I helped with. I took it one step further, spicing it up with a bit of movement and experimenting with the UI and copy as well. Hope you enjoy it - let me know. Do you have any stories to share as a crypto business owner or designer working for a crypto company?
