deco post card design
Art Deco is an influential design style that began in France after the first world war and flourished internationally in the 1920s, 30s and 40s. It's an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials. The Art Deco aesthetic is characterized by graceful, stylized and geometric shapes, often in symmetrical arrangements. If you've seen the Chrysler Building in New York you've seen one of the most spectacular and iconic examples of Art Deco. As a style, Deco was, and continues to be, applied across a wide range of design items, from trash bins and manhole covers, to monumental skyscrapers. For our purposes, I want to narrow the field to those designs that also incorporate typography. To accompany this course, I have set up a Pinterest board and have pinned here images I used as inspiration.
