Alright, Thanks everyone for their opinions/suggestions. I decided on using the the third option from the last shot, with some tweaks to the color blends. (The blends appear more distinct and not so muddy.)

Also, I am ready to announce what this logo is for! It's not a huge project that will change your life, but I thought it would be nice to have a twitter account that serves the community by simply re-tweeting good design related tweets.

Participation is encouraged for all interested. Follow up and I'll follow you and retweet to the audience that this account builds. If you don't want to follow but you'd like something retweeted anyway add #designrt to your tweet.
