transitional sketch
I've been thinking a lot lately about how to get the most mileage out of a given level of fidelity. Often this means hooking up static wireframes into tappable/clickable prototypes to get a sense of flow/structure before writing any code (or even doing comps), but for more dynamic interfaces I've also been playing with different tools for producing low-cost animations. This allows me to consider/demonstrate aspects of motion and time that are, practically, impossible to convey in a static sketch without moving your hands all over the place and making funny noises with your mouth.
I've been learning Quartz Composer 'cause it seems like that's what all the cool kids are doing, but I've also been blocking out elements in Illustrator and animating them with Keynote -- which is ~much faster and, for me, has produced some really great results.
