Flat-Style Landscape Study

Exploration of ideas and concepts I picked up from flat-style landscape illustrations and tutorials.

First step after making the base layers was color. Seven years of working with color theory help a lot.

Second step was visualizing repetition vs. variability—the duplication of trees and rocks and buildings but varied in their placement and structure to make the landscape busier but not obnoxiously uniform.
