Sign-Up Experience for Inventure, AR Mobile Game

Yesterday we shared one of the earliest design concepts we made for Inventure, an AR-based mobile game designed to help people develop empathy. What you see above is the live version of the sign-up experience we created here at Zajno for the game.

Let me tell you a bit more about the project. The idea of the game is to grow gamer's emotional awareness as an indirect result of an immersive and fun experience, just like getting exercise in Pokémon Go. Why? Because the rise of mental health problems amongst teens is at an all-time high. The world needs a solution that speaks their language and is built within a medium teens enjoy most, games. And it's not just any game, it will combine alternate reality, interactive fiction, AI, and social media. All elements teens enjoy most.
While the game was being developed, our task was creating an engaging sign-up experience to collect email addresses and get people to join the new game. Our goal was intriguing potential users and allowing them to frictionlessly fill out the shortest sign-up form ever. So, we built the sign-up experience around the main character, Pythia: an AI-based girl from the future, whose goal is saving the world, and she needs help. The experience we designed and developed aims at getting people to empathize with Pythia and do what’s possible to help her out.
One of the unique things about this project is that we needed to make a voice recording and integrate it in the experience. As the experience was meant to trigger a strong emotion, the visual and audio content was so intense that it was a bit emotionally challenging to spend weeks interacting with it. Nevertheless, the project was so fascinating that it was totally worth it.
