A Midsummer Night's Dream - Poster Design
For a few years now, I have been designing some of @epworthschoolpmb 's posters for their school productions, mainly in the prep school. Recently, however, I had the opportunity to design one for the high school, the performance of which was in partnership with Hilton College.
As I shared recently, I stepped very far outside of my comfort zone with this, incorporating and hand-crafting a style that I'm not accustomed to. I saw this as a worthwhile challenge and an opportunity to develop my skills in this new style and to create something with a more lasting impression.
The theme for this particular performance was Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, arguably a classic, in a steampunk style. I tried to mirror this was an industrial style of lettering, flourishing and framing reminiscent of the time, with a gold shine to represent a metallic finish on its own.
I was really proud of how this came out in the end, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of getting it there. Everyone involved was stoked with the outcome as well, which is always amazing to hear!
After the performances are complete, the design will be featured on their new poster wall space @epworthschoolpmb is developing in their new Haley Hall (where the show is performed) alongside all the other shows they have done over the years. I'm super proud to be an official part of that wall now, and I can't wait to share that with you as well!
UPDATE: With the current pandemic sweeping the globe, and the President's address on Sunday evening calling for the prohibition of large gatherings, the dates for this performance will be changing.
I'll be sure to share the updated one as soon as all is confirmed. As they say, the show must go on ☝️
