History of Pandemics

These nasty spike-balls represent the size of pandemics of our past. This graphic is being forwarded by newsites and medical professionals to give perspective on what these outbreaks have looked like previously, and shed light on the current C19 situation.

Challenge: Chart data points that span thousands of years with wildly different values in a single image.

Solution: A perspective chart was created inspired by the legendary Maps of Time pioneered by Emma Willard in the 1800s. Styling was further inspired by 3D renderings comparing the size of planets in our solar system.
