Was told this by a friend who got it from a devotional-- tried to find the original author who wrote or said the idea, but couldn't find him/her.

Anyway, the thought: so often we believe peace must look like a tranquil river in the forest, or a quiet hillside... but what if, instead, peace actually looks like a bird choosing to sing its song in the midst of war-zone? This is reminiscent of something Jesus once promised. "I have told you these things that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble; take heart, for I have overcome the world (John 16:33)."

During a time like this, its easy to see that this world is *full* of trouble. But maybe we still can, despite the brokenness, discover true peace, like a bird choosing to sing in a war-zone.
