City Builders to Peter the First

This is an illustration inspired by the part of Adam Mickeiwicz's "Dziady" titled "Pomnik Piotra Wielkiego". Petersburg was a whim of tzar Peter the First and he decided to build a city on a swamps. Many, many workers died when they were building Petersburg in very hard conditions. Originally, the inscription on the monument means: "Catherine the Second to Peter the First, summer 1782" I changed it to: "City Builders to Peter the First, summer 1782".
