CRAYOLA Typographic Collection

I was contacted by Crayola to create a collection of 12 different typography based designs to add to their brand standards. They specified that they were shooting for an older audience than their usual target audience of 4-8yr olds. This collection of illustrated words and patterns would be used on a variety of apparel and collateral, such as notebooks, tins and back-to-school totes for an 8-16yr old audience. Each design needed to embody the heart of Crayola, without necessarily showing the products (except within a few of the designs). Crayola's creative team provided me with a list of approved words to work with, and I went from there. I really strived to provide them with a broad range of designs, including patterns, illustrated words (that morphed into different elements conveying growth and creativity), as well as calligrams that would appeal to several different design aesthetics within the broad 8-16yr old age range. Here are some of the final designs from the completed typographic collection.
