Royal Coster Diamonds

Old work Back in 2017, I was honored to be tasked with designing the Coat of Arms for Royal Coster Diamonds.

Founded in 1840, Royal Coster Diamonds is the oldest, and still operating diamond polishing factory in the world.

Royal Coster's request was to create something that represents their legacy, present, and future.

Earlier in 2016, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands grants Coster Diamonds the Honorary title "Royal". The crest needed to commemorate this occasion

About the Crest
The crest combines various aspects that represent the famous diamond polishing factory. There are two lions, a beaver, three Saint Andrew's Crosses, a diamond, the Royal Coster crown and the text “Honestas Optima Politia” or “Honesty is the Best Policy”.

The 2 Lions
Reference to the 2 lions on the dutch coat of arms which symbolize the monarchy.

Three Saint Andrew’s Crosses
3 Saint Andrew’s Crosses, which are the symbol of Amsterdam.

The Crown
In 1852 Royal Coster Diamonds was commissioned to re-cut and polish this diamond for Queen Victoria. A replicate of this crown has the best place in our building; right in the middle of the polishing area.

The beaver
Stands for hard work and strong work ethics.
