Being a disruptor
It can does get lonely
Big shifts will happen…
They’re your growth spurts
You'll be misunderstood
(Under estimated)
You'll be judged with someone else’s measuring stick
There will be the temptation to go back to what you've known
It's impossible to regret internal change and development
You'll have a crazy amount of knowledge
You're being primed to be an expert
Becoming an overcomer is a beautiful place to get to
With that comes influence, responsibility and opportunity
I'm about to tell you about a bundle of pain, sacrifice and sweat to make your dream or creative endeavor happen… guess it's not the most compelling place to start. So why bother disrupting at all? I would argue that's where opportunity and impact are. Disruption isn't a fair weather sport. But it is absolutely worth it. If you're feeling a pioneering spirit building in you, it's near impossible to run away from or ignore. Often it can feel like you're being 'funnelled.' It's easy to feel like we're overrun with choice. What's tougher, is leaning into a single minded decision, committing and building something with it. That's the bit that takes an awful lot of time and stamina. Especially when the results are slow or non existent.
It can get lonely
Yep. Off the back of any decision to lean into something, it can from a distance look limiting. What's actually happening, without this intending to be negative or stifling, someone else is judging your fruitfulness, when they haven't put in the specific sacrifices you made or would be uncomfortable even entertaining those decisions. Disruption isn't for the faint hearted. One of the biggest challenges I've faced is accepting the path I'm on, and knowing that some people who are close won’t get it. What can be incredible, is receiving support and encouragement even when it's not fully understood. That's a beautiful definition of love. Remind yourself of this, when you don't fully understand someone else's sacrifice or commitment to lean in, be an encouragement anyway. Ask questions and have an open heart to understand their choices and challenges. Your own vision and purpose will expand and be challenged through those conversations.
