3D TYPOGRAPHY DESIGN

Starting to learn more and more. There are so many resources from where you can learn right ? My seniors always says to "Copy as much as you can but don't steal someone else's work" that's right. From copying someone's work following their art then finding your own style and in future someone will copy . That's how it work right ?
