Daily UI #004 | Calculator

Challenge: Design a calculator. Standard, scientific, or specialty calculator for something such as a mortgage? Is it for a phone, a tablet, a web app?

Solution: As someone who finds myself splitting tabs with my friends, I thought to calculate everyones bill based on what they had, and the tax & tip relative to their items

Goal: Create a calculator that makes it easier for friends to split a bill.

Hypothesis: By adding the ability to take a picture, of a bill, use APIs to translate the image into text, let users select who had what, and request will help increase the cash flow through Venmo.

Metrics: - Percent of people that try to split bill by scanning - DAU who perform this act - How much money gets requested this way (how does this compare to the standard approach and how does it trend over time)

Requirements: - Scan or take image to read the receipt - Let select who ordered what - Review the final amount who owes what - Split tip and tax relative to each person's bill - Request all the friends on the bill at once

Extra: - Remember top used friends - Use AI to remember when you ate at certain restaurants and with who for next time to eliminate typing to search - After adding someone to bill, remember them so they don't have to type to find them again - Make it clear at the end that they are requesting from friends, and it might not include the total amount (including themselves)
