Space Floor (.gif)

Looped portion of an intro for a flash site I did in 2008 for Ariston Jacks, an old friend and artist. His paintings at the time shared a space/higher-dimensional vibe with lots of galactic imagery and geometry, so we knew we wanted to capture this ambience for his portfolio website redesign.

The layers were created in PS then moved over to Flash for animating. The 3D and lighting were difficult to pull off in a 2D environment and was done primarily with tricky masks.

I've been imagining how I'd do this nowadays with CSS3 and I'm not certain it'd be possible. Pretty sure you could do it with the canvas element but I haven't had much experience there yet.

Any advice on getting a smoother .gifs would be awesome.
