Imo Redesign Concept

Challenge -
To take an application I use every day, list pain points and find design solutions. I chose imo — a popular messaging app that I use almost every day.
For the last 4 years I have been using the app, the design hasn’t changed much. This should be a strong enough reason for me to redesign it to make it better in my own way.
Goals -
The experience should be seamless, simple and accessible for users. Obviously. Not to say the imo app isn’t any of those now, however, I think more emphasis is needed on those parameters.
Pain Points -
1. Inconsistency in design.
Solution: Fixed and made the ui prettier for the user as the current app ui is inconsistent in many places such as the settings page and the chat page where the list of conversations are shown.
2. Unorganised layout.
Solution: Profile and Settings icon gets new pages of their own. A tab bar design to put the features that were all over the places and organised them in their respective pages.
3. Complicated design.
Solution: I have uncluttered the screens and made the app and its features easier to understand and made navigating through the app a lot easier. Not everything that works is always well-thought-out. Users might find it difficult to understand too many details. The current design is cluttered to say the least. The current interface works well but the design is complicated and hard to understand and find the features the app consists of.
Conclusion -
My intention was not to write a UX review on the imo app design. I merely enjoy the process of redesigning established products and exploring new ideas.
