Get Out Film Poster
This 24" x 36" digital Procreate work was a piece I created as a movie poster for the 2017 film Get Out. My intention of this poster was to convey several vital themes that are present throughout the film and their greater purpose. During the second half of the film, it's made very apparent how the main character, Chris, is scene as a trophy for the white folk of his girlfriend's home in upstate New York - comparable to how African Americans were auctioned and bought during times of slavery. The deer head (or in this case, his) mounted on the wall illustrates this concept and also ties back to the deer that he and his girlfriend had first hit when traveling to her upstate home at the beginning of the movie. Its no coincidence that this theme is present in several ways, with the back story of his guilt over his mother's death in a hit-and-run when he was a child continuing to haunt him as well.
