Karigari
Background:
Umeed is a non-profit that hopes to promote women’s empowerment and radically alter the mindsets that exist within society. Through providing training and knowledge to women, we aspire to bring about an immediate and lasting difference; one of hope, dignity, and security. Currently, Umeed runs on its mission of empowering women holistically by way of two community initiatives namely Karigari and FirstLeap.
Through Karigari, we provide training to women to learn the skill of making simple yet beautiful eco-friendly newspaper handicrafts. Along with skill-building, the women get exposure to new life-skills; such as digital literacy, financial planning, budgeting and progressive values like self-worth, teamwork, collaboration, and creativity

Karigari logo rationale:
A butterfly depicts the sense of flight. The elevated position adds dimension to this levitation.
The butterfly is made of two hearts that symbolize life (in life skills). The juxtaposition of the hearts brings out the spirit of collaboration.
The butterfly, with its folded creases, looks as if it were crafted out of paper.
The sheer geometric shapes in the entire logo are a nod to the “digital”. The modern typeface (DIN) has been modified to add a little friendliness to its otherwise strong, sporty demeanor.
The logo is instantly recognizable and the logotype (text) and logomark (icon) beautifully balance each other.
The simple logo works easily with other surfaces and a limited printing palette.
