Warung So So Lobi - Logo

I designed the logo for this Surinamese restaurant in Rotterdam

It should not be like all other dining tents, but it should have really clear Surinam influences. The logo had to have a soft and warm appearance. It also had to be clearly visible that it is a dining tent.

I started looking for fonts that are modern, so mainly sans serif. The name So So Lobi means only love. I soon got the idea to use a heart. I have also taken into account the Surinamese flag, because they liked it. The colors of the Surinamese flag are green, yellow and red. However, these are hard shades of green, yellow and red. I then opted for the same colors, but in a soft shade. To indicate that it is a dining tent, I used the objects fork and spoon. Then I started playing with the objects and came up with different sketches.

In the end I put the logo on a white background, but found that it came out better on a dark background and had more appearance.
