Dark Matter:
Our universe is made out of things.
Things that have mass, also have gravity.
The larger their mass is, the stronger their gravity.
The Sun, for example, has a lot of mass.
Due to that, it also has a lot of gravity.
That gravity is pulling the planets in the solar system into the Sun’s orbit.
This is called a 'Gravity Well'.
Unlike the Sun and the effect of its gravity well that we can clearly see, there are things with a lot of mass that are invisible.
The effect of their gravity however, is clearly visible to us.
These invisible things are called ‘Dark Matter', because we can’t see them, but we can see the effects of their gravity on other things.
