Polyvore
I use polyvore a lot for my personal blog, and took a quick stab at the site. I wish the look and feel of polyvore can be more "fashiony".
Most importantly, their info structure of the site can be a lot more simplified.
1. A simpler top-level navigation
I consolidated Trending, Following, and Shop because they all have to do with browsing and discovering. Users can quickly go to "Browse" for more details without the UI cluttering the experience.
2. A more engaging and dynamic homepage
Drawing from the top 5 fashion trends is the big image slideshow on top of the homepage. Each trend offers some examples, so users are immediately informed of and enticed with the newest trend when they log in, without clicking anywhere. Users can click on the big slideshow to see more details for each trend (links to the detailed page for all the items in the trend).
3. A more attractive and content-focused experience
My social stream includes activities from the people I follow on Polyvore. Most importantly, these activities are about the boards and the content in those boards. In the redesign, users can focus on the content and get other information, like comments, # of likes, etc., on mouseover.
