Neon Genesis Evangelion
Recently I’ve discovered a magnificent series that I somehow missed earlier based on the eponymous manga "Neon Genesis Evangelion", 1995.
The series I’m talking about is called "The End of Evangelion" made by Hideaki Anno in 1997, and it’s about a real apocalypse. The apocalypse caused by people, driven by their selfish desire to become Gods. They played with souls and bodies, creating people from nothing, like Gods, and they get punished for this.
The series and feature films explore a number of important and quite controversial philosophical questions such as the meaning of life, God, selfhood, time and space etc. It is also the most impressive interpretation of the end of the world, in my opinion.
"Neon Genesis Evangelion" is good source of inspiration. It won’t get it out of my head for a long time.
