ЯUSSIA is a project about new fairy-tale heroes of modern Russia.

As many things in Russia have remained unchanged for many years, so have its heroes. Today, as in the 90's, 00's and 10's, we can meet the same unchanging characters of modern Russian folklore on the streets of Russian cities and on the country's TV screens.

But it is not fair to talk about Russia today as well as about Russia of former years, because it really has changed in many ways, so we look at the fabulous, as if mirror, double of this vast country, at the amazing place called "Яussia" and find out whether they actually have a lot in common or these characters are nothing more than remnants of the past and urban legends.

So how are things in this wonderful country, untouched by time? Let us come closer and learn how to live Яussia and get to know her, in truth, fantastic characters!

On street corners and along highways, we can still meet dressed-up "modnits" waiting for their fickle Cavaliers. In dark doorways and in remote courtyards, dangerous "gopnik" and hooligans can wait for us, and next to them in a corner, an old friend of the homeless "drunk" can quietly snore. And out of the store "produkti" is a slow shuffling step "babushka", having bought arrears with all the pension money. Here and on the Central square of cities there are permanent inhabitants, inseparable friends, defenders of the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens "omonovtsy" and police officers, in the people still called "menty". From the screens of old TVs and new plasmas, a servant of the law — "edros" - broadcasts, promising prosperity and stability to the people. In the yards and sidewalks, visiting friends from the East, hard-working bees "gastarbaytery" work for pennies. And the inhabitants of the Golden-domed palaces, called "priests"by Pushkin, protect the country from troubles from the other world. All this is sad to look at, as looked ten and twenty and thirty years ago, dusty and shabby houses "panelki". So here it is this fabulous country Яussia not changing its foundations, traditions and customs, protect the people's sacred ties!
