Restless

Semble - winner of our Build My App 2019 competition - is the UK’s most active platform helping community groups to get the support they deserve by partnering them with businesses and volunteers.

The winning app idea? Well, internally, it has been described as Time Out - but for doing good stuff. And by ‘stuff’, we mean taking part in experiences that benefit the community in some way; be that by doing some gardening for a local space, or having a cuppa with a lonely elderly person. Officially, it’s called ‘The Restless’ - a place for people to come when they’re itching to do something good but don’t know where to go.

To create this app in a week, we followed our usual process but compressed it. This meant that a lot of the work was being done side by side, for example, we created a non-designed app to start building the functionality whilst the designs were being created, and used hardcoded data to continue development after that whilst the APIs were being worked on.
