App Concept - Mini Life Courses

The concept I’ve had in my head for a while is mini-courses surrounding general life topics (like how to pay taxes! Or sex-ed! Or general boundaries and how to recognize abuse!) for people to use to basically learn about life.

One of the things I’ve recently been frustrated with the level of education I’ve received in high school (while I was there). I learned absolutely nothing about how to do taxes or first aid or health care and how it works or boundaries and recognizing red flags in a relationship. even the bare legally required stuff that was shown was so poorly done that I learned absolutely NOTHING from it.

I’ve had the idea for a while to run a free course app/website where you can learn about all of these life topics you’ll actually need, and can ask other people questions about specific predicaments or life situations.

This year and last year have been rough. I tried to enter an inpatient eating disorder treatment at the end of 2019 bc stuff in my life overwhelmed me so much that my anorexia came back into full swing.
Nut what I didn’t know was that I got booted off of my health insurance (Medi-Cal) because I turned 18! I had to deal with losing health insurance in the absolute worst moment. Then I had to try and learn how to do taxes and apply for a credit card since I’m not a college student and I also don’t have a stable and long term solidified source of income.

This year had brought a lot of learning and pain to me that would’ve been a lot easier to deal with if I had just learned applicable life skills in school. And I think instead of having to learn these life skills the hard way, we should have a single and unified way to learn about these skills, and interact with other people to improve life quality all around.
