Product Designer

Who Are We?

TOKONEY is a dynamic tech start-up revolutionizing the worldwide transport of specialist goods—such as fine art and aerospace instruments—making logistics more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable. Every artwork or shipment we handle is unique, requiring bespoke services, Tokoney’s innovative technology brings these services in a single digital platform, eliminating the complexity, cost, and risk that normally burden our customers, who span art galleries, antique dealers, auction houses, online platforms, and interior designers.

We’re at an exciting growth stage, having secured both private investment and a prestigious UK Government grant, placing us in the top 2% of innovation-led companies in the UK. Joining us now means huge potential to grow alongside Tokoney—your contributions will directly shape the future of specialized logistics technology and help our customers operate more seamlessly on a global scale.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Tokoney’s sole Product Designer, you will be the design authority within our product teams. Your mission is to craft intuitive, end-to-end user journeys and help drive the overall design vision for a complex, high-variability B2B logistics platform. You’ll also contribute creative skills to support marketing materials that capture Tokoney’s disruptive capabilities.

  • Designing experiences across vendor, system, and customer portals. You’ll transform complex multi-stage logistics processes (e.g., quoting, customs, vendor selection, inventory tracking) into simple, effective user workflows that anyone can navigate.

  • Leading Design Strategy & Execution. As our only in-house designer, you’ll own the entire design lifecycle—research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI—collaborating closely with engineering, product, operations, marketing, and sales teams.

  • Conducting and Interpreting User Research. You’ll engage directly with customers and vendors, gathering insights through interviews, surveys, and analytics. You’ll translate these findings into iterative improvements, ensuring our platform is always aligned with real-world needs.

  • Championing Visual & Interaction Design. You’ll bring clarity to highly variable workflows and ensure consistent experiences within Tokoney’s emerging design system—extending and refining it as needed.

  • Collaborating on Marketing & Pitching Materials. Approximately 10-15% of your time will go toward creating compelling visuals and interactive content that illustrate Tokoney’s global services and help us stand out in sales pitches and investor decks.

Your Role

You’ll thrive if you are:

  • Visionary & Hands-On. You combine strategic thinking about design direction with a willingness to dive into the granular details of user flows and visuals.

  • An Experimenter. You champion user testing, iterative improvements, and a culture of continuous learning—using analytics, A/B testing, and direct user feedback to refine designs.

  • A Collaborative Problem Solver. You’re eager to immerse yourself in cross-functional conversations—engineering, product, ops, marketing—to uncover user needs in a niche, often offline industry.

  • Impact-Focused. You care about eliminating friction, and making operations safer and more transparent for fine art and other high-value items in transit.

What You’ll Bring to Tokoney

  • 3+ years of end-to-end UX or Product Design experience, owning execution and evolution of products or product features.

  • Demonstrable experience driving the entire design process in a technical environment—especially in complex marketplaces, B2B software, or logistics/supply-chain-related platforms.

  • Impressive portfolio showcasing narrative-driven problem-solving—from discovery to final UI—ideally including multi-step workflows.

  • Experience conducting comprehensive UX research (user interviews, analytics tools, usability tests) and applying insights to product improvements.

  • Solid understanding of design tools and methods (Figma, prototyping software, design systems).

  • Excellent communication skills. You can articulate design rationale to stakeholders ranging from operations managers to developers.

  • Ability to self-manage and “connect the dots” across product areas to handle complex, task-based workflows.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit. Thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment, ready to build and iterate quickly.

  • UK PAYE employment. You must be authorized to work in the UK.

Nice to Have:

  • Logistics or supply-chain familiarity—knowledge of or interest in how shipping, cross-border compliance, or warehousing works.

  • Experience working with or creating design systems that can be extended for future internal/external products.

  • Familiarity with branding and marketing design—you’ll help shape pitch decks, landing pages, and other assets to support Tokoney’s sales activities.
