Detailed Doodle - Monarch Butterflies
How many small details do you see?
I've found myself hand drawing and doodling much more often lately. This intricate, yet archaic structure of quasi leaves is something I've been doodling since I was a child bored in class. This post is quite different than my usual digital illustrations and designs. The concept has recently resurfaced and I'm going with it.
This illustration idea comes as news of the California Monarch Butterfly's impending extinction made headlines this past week. The entire illustration took about 5 hours total and was created on a 3.5 inch by 5 inche (8.9cm x 12.7cm) piece of thick sketch paper. It consists of varying leaves, branches, eyes, skulls and crowns, along with caterpillars and butterflies.
